california on a whim!

in the middle of october we decided to make one more, last-minute trip to california! we had a blast! we pretty much spent every day at the beach.--no matter the weather.

speed is always a favorite game to play!

brighton discovered seashell collecting! i swear i couldn't "accidentally" get rid of one! she knew every single shell that she put in her bucket!

christian's hike (race)

one beautiful fall day, christian arranged a hike for the family. joe and jason drove all of us to the other side of the mountain. after 1 1/2 hrs, we arrived at our hike!

the perfect way to start out a hike: laughter! before we even started, cameron's socks were covered in annoying poky things!

what i thought was going to be a hike turned into a race. i chose to stay back with my girls and take it all in and enjoy the scenery:)

it was a long, long hike. we even went through snow we were up so high!

christian had 2 challenges for the kids. 1. spot the bald eagle 2. spot a Y

the end of the hike also ended in laughter! my phone was set to a ring that sounds like a duck quacking! during the hike, it rang, or quacked, 3 separate times. cameron and jordan just couldn't find the ducks! they kept looking in the sky. nobody knew it was my phone! cameron even remembered seeing ducks up there before! while on the drive to dinner after the hike, my phone rang in the car with cameron and jordan sitting in the back seat. they couldn't believe the ducks had followed us and they were desperately trying to see out the windows of the car to see the ducks! i finally burst out laughing and clued them in! best joke ever!

carving pumpkins!

we ended up with some really cute pumpkins--pics are on my phone. maybe one day i'll figure out how to download them!

sailor girl had a fantastic birthday party with tons of girls. she was all giggles while the girls were singing happy birthday! i love how boston is just climbing up on the counter behind her--who knew what he was up to?!

a boy's day

it's so hard to get my big kids to stop for a picture. i barely got this one of hayden with his dirty, goggle-and-helmet wearing, riding-motorcycles-in-the-dirt-all-day face! so glad they came home safe!

14!

my baby girl is fourteen! that seems so old to me. 14 years ago, i stood in the window of our hospital room holding her, looking out at the twin towers. i cried when skylar was born, she was so pretty i couldn't believe it! and she still is. 14 is going to be a great year--i can just feel it! happy birthday sky sky! (how sad that this is her only birthday party picture?! i'll improve)

"kidnapped"!

skylar's friends have a tradition of "kidnapping" each other on their birthdays and taking the birthday girl out to breakfast. since skylar's birthday was on general conference and her friends were busy the morning of, they surprised her and kidnapped her inbetween sessions and took her out to lunch! (yes, she was a little disappointed when she woke up and hadn't been kidnapped yet) it was perfect! sky was playing the piano when the girls snuck in (so she couldn't hear them) and they came right up behind her and put the "birthday glasses" on her, lead her out, and took her away!

taylor swift

in september, we made plans to see taylor swift in concert! skylar's good friend turned the night into her birthday party and bought all of the girlfriends tickets to the concert! i was asked to come along. so..........

joe took hayden and sailor. i went with the birthday group. what a surprise when i showed up at the junior high to help drive and sky's friend had rented a limo for the night! can you even imagine 10 teenage girls coming out of school and seeing this?! it was quite the scene!

these girls sang at the top of their lungs the entire way to slc! (while eating way too many treats!)

after some shopping and dinner, we were ready to head into the concert! (stay tuned for joe's iphone photos from the concert. joe, hayden, and sailor touched taylor swift's hand! yes, joe reached over the railing!)
