brighton went potty in the toilet!!!

lately
sometimes life gets too busy to blog.
this is what we've been up to lately.
boston constantly has a ball attached to him which is fine until
it's time to run errands. it doesn't make the grocery cart easy.
especially when he has to wear sailor's cleats that fall off of him.
brighton: still trying to convince her parents that she needs to

be signed up for gymnastics. today she put on two leotards
and a pair of hot pants........................

sailor did the storytelling festival and
is busy playing futsal & tennis............

skylar had her last indoor soccer game and another gym meet.
she placed on every event-we're still waiting for that 1st place!

hayden has started another round of bantam basketball along
with group lessons and a private lesson from coach ray. (the
coach with the skinny legs----have we ever told you that
hilarious story?)

13 babies
joe's office manager, crystal, has 13 rottweiler puppies
(i mean had-she sold 7 of them today)............................
we took the kids over to see them today..... for kids that
always beg to get a dog, it took them a while to warm up
but once they did, they loved them!
sailor begged for a dog the entire way home and skylar
informed me that she is going to be a nice mom and she
is going to get her kids a dog..........................
ha! just wait 'til she ends up with 13 puppies!
(i mean had-she sold 7 of them today)............................

curly q?
over the weekend, skylar played around with curlers in her hair.
of course, brighton had to get in on the action.......let's just say
that her hair is cuter with curlers in than with sporadically,
different sized curls in her hair!
we'll practice, get better and then take a pic of the final product.

discovery
on monday we went to the discovery museum in slc. it really is
a great museum (if you can call it a museum--more like a play
place). it was so much fun watching the babies discover so many
things, it was even fun watching the big kids discover.........we
also discovered that all of utah was there. they told us pres. day
is their busiest day of the year. ya, we could have told you that!

happy birthday peyton!!!
happy birthday to our long lost cousin.................we've only met
you a couple of times but we're sure you and boston are going
to be best buddies! we hope you have a happy day and get

brighton found skylar's gym suit and had it on within minutes.
she kept saying "na" (gym-na-stics) and pointing to the door.

it pays to have a long tongue
yesterday skylar came home from school with 2 dollar$,
a new eraser, 2 new fancy pencils and a jolly rancher!
all for showing her classmates how she can touch her
nose with her world-record long tongue! ka-ching!
i wonder how much she could earn if they knew
she could actually stick her tongue up her nose!
7 hours of darkness
our power was out from 6 o'clock last night until the wee hours.
hayden and sky were tending when it happened and they
handled it like champs.....by the time i got home they all had
headlamps on and candles were burning. we took off and
went to the byu art museum and bean museum (animals).
the chill of no furnace was not very inviting to come home to.
it made us grateful we didn't live 100 years ago................

true skylar
skylar had a meet on saturday.......on friday, she told
us that she was going to place on every event in this
meet. (this is coming after two previous meets of not
doing that well, sorry to say,we didn't believe her!)
well, in true skylar fashion, she placed on every event.
that is just like her: to say she's going to do it and
then she does. it's nice to see that determination kick
in again.....can't wait to see what the next meet brings!

men/boys will be boys
hayden is always begging joe to play air-soft guns with him.
joe finally had a chance to take him up on it. they ran around
the house taking shots at each other, crawling on their stomachs
& hiding around corners. i'm sure if we look closely, we can see
the neighbors peering out their windows at them. and no, that
is not a darth vadar mask on joe but it sure looks like one.

who needs mom?
hayden went skiing with friends-which means without mom-
for the first time. it's kinda scarry to send your kid up the
mountain alone and hope he knows what he's doing. i was
going by myself in 5th grade so i suppose 7th grade is old
enough but what a tough reality when your kid doesn't need
you anymore. he had a blast and was able to go "fast"
because i wasn't behind him yelling "turn, turn, good skiers
turn--they don't just go straight down" (sounds like my mom)
for the first time. it's kinda scarry to send your kid up the

gorillas on timp
christian has a motion sensor video camera that he leaves in
remote, animal-filled areas of the mountains and then watches
it to see what wanders by.......he has taken hayden a couple
of times to go retrieve the camera and this weekend he took
all 3 big kids and grandma pam. they saw a lot of cougar tracks
and we were grateful they didn't become cougar dinner.
on sunday, during the world's greatest tennis match ever
(according to joe) (isn't federer the cutest, coolest athlete ever?),
knowing that christian would be watching his twin on t.v. and
not hiking, grandma pam called and reminded us that she has a
gorilla costume..........................................................................

by. good thing the bobcat didn't have gorilla for dinner.............
